Goniwe to appeal against expulsion from ANC

Publish date: 04 January 2007

Former ANC Chief Whip Mbulelo Goniwe is to appeal against his expulsion from the organisation.

He will question disciplinary chairman Kader Asmal’s competence and argue the action was politically motivated, according to a report in The Mercury. He has given notice to the ANC’s National Executive Committee that he intends to apply for the decision to be reviewed on appeal. He was expelled from the organisation for three years. This comes after the ANC’s disciplinary committee decided on December 14 to expel Goniwe because he had sexually harassed a 21-year-old parliamentary office assistance, Nomwele Njongo.
