Hefty sentence for copper thief

A 32-year-old Zimbabwean man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail at the Chivhu Magistrate's Court for stealing copper cables. Wellie Maribha was arrested on Monday in Epworth, south east of Harare. News Day reports that Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) spokesperson George Manyaya said the power utility was working with law enforcement agents and communities to tackle damage to infrastructure. In a separate incident, three Harare men were detained on Monday for allegedly vandalising Zesa property.
