Wife wants to have baby with Boeremag prisoner

The wife of a Boeremag prisoner is taking the Department of Correctional Services to court in a bid to be allowed private visitation rights in order to have a baby, Netwerk24 reports. Riëtte Pretorius (36) married convict Wilhelm Pretorius (41) in the Zonderwater Prison in 2017. They met after he was sentenced to an effective sentence of 25 years for high treason, among other offences. Riëtte Pretorius applied to the department to have a ‘private visitation room’ available for the couple to engage in sex. Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo says the department declined the request as ‘such arrangements’ would set a precedent. He confirmed that Riëtte Pretorius was taking the matter on review in the High Court. She is quoted as saying other means of fertilisation were not options because of the costs. ‘I want children. I want many children,’ she said.
