Waste Bill gets tough on offenders

The Bill is aimed at managing the waste produced by society and at minimising it. It aims to promote the effective delivery of waste services and the integration of waste management reporting and planning, says a Business Day report. The proposed legislation also suggests national standards for regulating the management of waste, which will be binding on all spheres of government and provides for the appointment of national, provincial and local waste management officers.
