SA diplomats say the US is expected to place cousins Junaid Dockrat, a Johannesburg dentist, and Farhad Dockrat, on its list of al-Qaeda suspects and will freeze their assets.

According to a report on the IoL site the US is also pushing to have the pair placed on a UN list of suspects tied to Osama bin Laden\'s group as well as Afghanistan\'s Taliban. ‘Their names will be listed with the (US) Treasury Department soon,’ one of the diplomats said. The Dockrats have denied the allegations. Their lawyer has asked the US for evidence backing its allegations. The US Government maintains that al-Qaeda operatives are in Somalia, Sudan and North Africa and says that fundraising and recruiting by the group have become a serious worry in SA, Nigeria and the trans-Saharan region.
