US missionary admits abusing Kenyan orphans

A US missionary has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing four young females at an orphanage he launched in Kenya. The Attorney’s Office in Pennsylvania confirmed that Gregory Dow is accused of assaulting the girls between 2013 and 2017 while operating Dow Family Children’s Home, an orphanage he established in Boito in 2008. The News & Observer notes that two of the victims were just 11 when the alleged abuse began. ‘The defendant purported to be a Christian missionary who cared for these children and asked them to call him “Dad”. But instead of being a father figure, he preyed on their youth and vulnerability,’ prosecutors said in a statement. Dow fled Kenya and returned to Pennsylvania in 2017 after the abuse allegations surfaced. He will be sentenced on 29 September.
