Two Zimbabwean army officers and four civilians have been arrested by police for allegedly assaulting and killing a Chipinge man during an altercation last year. New Zimbabwe reports that the suspects who appeared before Magistrate Poterai Gwezhira have denied the charges and were remanded in custody. Prosecutor Timothy Katsande told court that on 26 February, the six suspects ‘acting in connivance’ attacked Mahembe. An autopsy concluded that Mahembe’s death was due to ‘severe head injury secondary to assault’.
