* A 20-year-old man appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrates’ Court yesterday on charges relating to R500 000 worth of fake DVD games and sleeves that came into Durban from Kuala Lumpar. He was not asked to plead and was granted R3 000 bail. He was ordered to reappear in court on October 15.– The Mercury

* The trial of a Benoni man who allegedly kidnapped, raped and indecently assaulted girls will be heard in the Johannesburg High Court in February next year. Peter John Putter (32) allegedly kidnapped the girls between the ages of 11 and 17 while pretending to be a police officer searching for drugs. – News24 * The International Monetary Fund’s mission chief to SA, Michael Nowak, has called for the remaining foreign exchange controls to be lifted.
