Notorious Cape Town gangster George ‘Geweld’ Thomas, the alleged leader of the ruthless 28s prison gang, was sentenced to seven life terms and an additional 175 years for crimes ranging from murder to racketeering. Six witnesses were murdered during the trial. Others entered the witness protection programme.
