While Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky is awaiting sentence in a fraud trial, a Moscow Court has frozen assets of his company Yukos.
Yukos\' former oil production unit Yuganskneftegas, now owned by rival Rosneft, wants 163bn roubles ($5.87bn) in damages from Yukos, reports BBC News. It says Yukos bought oil from it at below market prices. Yukos is already being pursued by the state for $27.5bn of back taxes. Analysts were critical of the latest move. It was long clear that the government will not rest easy until there is nothing left of Yukos, economics commentator Mikhail Berger told Moscow Echo radio. Full report by BBC News
