Racist MiWay e-mail fake, probe finds

The racist MiWay e-mail which caused a social media storm is fake and was sent by a policyholder, who has been identified, a report by digital forensic lab Cyanre found. A BusinessLIVE report quotes Cyanre MD Danny Myburgh as saying: ‘We can confirm, after a detailed investigation, that an e-mail sent from a MiWay employee was manipulated by an external source. The image circulating on social media is a fabrication.’ An eNCA report notes the short-term insurer said the e-mail caused severe embarrassment to MiWay, ‘making false allegations about MiWay’s claims handling policies’, indicating that black policy holders got a raw deal from the company.
