Public servants found guilty of grant fraud

Cases against another 19 public servants were postponed as the court roll was too full to hear all of them yesterday, said the clerk of the court. The 15 public servants convicted included teachers, nurses and clerks. They were each fined R10 000 of which R5 000 was suspended for five years (or one year in jail, six months of this suspended). They were also ordered to repay the department the social grants – mainly child support, disability and care dependency –they fraudulently received.
