Polygraphs planned for released sex offenders

Britain’s Home Office intends introducing a law that will compel sex offenders released from prison to undergo compulsory lie-detector tests.

This follows a study that showed 85% were reoffending or breaching parole, or had failed polygraph tests, reports The Independent. The move is understood to be part of a pilot study included as a clause in the planned Management of Offenders and Sentencing Bill in the coming year. The police are also considering using polygraphs, which are 90% accurate, to help monitor sex offenders and have discussed deploying them in cases involving domestic violence and stalking.
