’Police won’t arrest Boje’, and other brief reports

* The Delhi Police chief has assured a South African diplomat that Nicky Boje, the SA cricket team vice-captain, would not be arrested in connection with a match-fixing probe during the team’s tour of India this month. However, when he arrived in the country, he would be questioned about suspected links to Indian bookies during the team’s tour of India in 2000. – The Mercury

* A 61-year-old priest appeared in the Bolobedu Magistrates’ Court near Tzaneen yesterday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, Limpopo police said. His co-accused, Paulus van der Berg (21), a first offender, was jailed for six years for kidnapping and three years for the armed robbery, which took place on December 15 last year. – The Herald * The Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court has referred the case of teacher Neville Thavhanyedza (34), who is accused of hanging to death his three sons, to the Thohoyandou High Court. The case will be heard on November 25 and the suspect is out on R5 000 bail. – SABC News
