Former dictator General Augusto Pinochet will remain under house arrest until he goes on trial for nine kidnappings and one homicide allegedly committed during his long rule.

Pinochet suffered a stroke in December. In 2002 the Supreme Court struck down an indictment filed by Judge Guzman against Pinochet in another human rights case, after doctors diagnosed the former dictator with a moderate case of dementia.
