A sting operation has netted a KZN pastor who is allegedly behind an international fake marriages scam, notes a report in The Times.

It says the preacher was among eight people, including six women, arrested for allegedly supplying illegal immigrants with falsified marriage certificates and identity documents. Hawks officers, along with crime intelligence agents, arrested the eight at the weekend, according to the report which states it is the second such alleged scam to be uncovered in KZN in the past three years. Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said it was believed that the syndicate used stolen IDs to validate fake marriages, according to the report which notes the police were on the verge of making more arrests.
