Thieves on Wednesday broke into the offices of lawyers representing Zimbabwean televangelist Walter Magaya and stole computers, court documents and title deeds to his properties. News Day reports that Magaya’s lawyer Everson Chatambudza said the documents relate to their client’s rape trial at the High Court. ‘The thieves stole three desktop (computers), three laptops, destroyed a safe and walked away with our commissioner of oaths stamp, seal and our client’s important documents,’ Chatambudza said. Legalbrief reports that Magaya has been charged with rape, the unlawful termination of a pregnancy and obstruction of justice. The complainant alleges that after he forced himself on her, he instructed her to take a pregnancy termination pill. The trial continues.
Former President Robert Mugabe's home has been invaded again, less than a week after a similar break-in at his Mazowe farm. NewsDay reports that at least 119 laptops and seven desktop computers which were in locked containers at the Polo Grounds adjacent to Zimbabwe House have been stolen. It is understood the theft was discovered on Tuesday, when the Mugabes were moving their belongings from Zimbabwe House to their private residence in Borrowdale. The stolen goods were going to be donated to schools around the country.
