Now Agliotti faces drug charges

According to The Star, Scorpions Gauteng boss, Advocate Gerrie Nel, said yesterday during a routine court appearance of three men linked to a massive international drug smuggling syndicate that an ‘outstanding suspect (Agliotti) had been arrested on the Kebble murder and would be added to the charge sheet. The charges relate to the Scorpions’ interception of a R250m shipment of drugs earlier this year. The mysterious head of the smuggling network was referred to as ‘the Landlord’, though his identity was not known. Nel said they referred to Agliotti as ‘the Landlord’. Full report in The Star

The lawyer representing Agliotti ‘knows nothing’ about a drugs charge, according to a Mail & Guardian Online report. The lawyer, Lawrence Hodes, said he did not attend a brief court appearance yesterday by Stephanos Paparas (45) at which it was indicated that another accused was to be added to the charge sheet. Paparas – who is represented by Hodes\' father Max – handed himself over on July 13 after the arrest of his elderly father and four others on July 7 during a Scorpions investigation into an international drugs syndicate.
