No consensus over plan for Sani Pass border post

The first public meeting over the proposed relocation of the SA border post at Sani Pass has been held, with concern over access to the wilderness area taking precedence.
According to a report in The Mercury, consultants have recommended that the former Good Hope Trading Station, a set of ruins two kilometres beyond Sani Pass Hotel, become the next border control facility. It was deemed the most suitable in view of several criteria, including its location of the periphery of the proposed Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Park. However, concern was expressed about the legalities and practicalities of limiting access to people in possession of a passport. Full report in The Mercury
