Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment without the option of a fine for abusing the naira. Justice Abimbola Awogboro, of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, said the judgment would be a deterrent to others found to be abusing and mutilating the naira, The Vanguard reports. The judge ruled that the jail term would commence from 24 March, the day of his arrest. The court had convicted Okuneye on 5 April after he pleaded guilty to a charge of abusing the naira currency made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Okuneye was arrested for spraying hundreds of naira while dancing during a social event.
