Britain has proposed a new Equality Bill which will allow for the creation of a single body overseeing issues of equality.

Out-Law.com reports that the Bill will allow the establishment of a Commission for Equality and Human Rights, which will replaced separate commissions for Racial Equality, Disability Rights and Equal Opportunities. The Bill also includes new powers to outlaw discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief; creates a duty on public authorities to promote equality of opportunity between men and women; and prohibits sexual discrimination in the exercise of public functions.
