Napa wines must come from Napa region

The Los Angeles Times reports the dispute goes back to a 2000 state law that requires winemakers to use at least 75% of the grapes from a region if they are going to use the place name on the label. But a similar 1986 federal law was more generous, allowing existing wine labels to keep their names even if they didn\'t meet the grape content requirement. Much to the frustration of Napa Valley Vintners, Bronco took advantage of the exemption to link its wines to the internationally acclaimed wine region. Full report in the Los Angeles Times
