Two more MPs have pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and theft in connection with the multimillion-rand parliamentary Travelgate scandal, bringing the number of the accused left in the trial to 10.

These 10 – five MPs and five travel agents – represent a third of the number of suspects initially arrested in connection with the case, notes a report in The Mercury. To date, the Scorpions have concluded plea bargains with 30 current and former MPs and one travel agent, Shamiela Lamalia. She has agreed to testify on behalf off the state. Yesterday, Jabu Sosibo and Elizabeth Ngaleka – both serving ANC MPs – accepted plea bargains from the state after lengthy negotiations. Full report in The Mercury (subscription needed)
