A 17-year-old female in south-western Nigeria who allegedly faked her own kidnap to demand a ransom from her mother has been arrested. Seun Adekunle is accused of conspiring with her boyfriend to stage her abduction in Abeokuta and demanding $1 400 in ransom. A report on the EWN site notes that police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said the lovers ‘were caught hibernating, yet passing themselves off as victims of abduction’. They are both expected to appear in court this week.
