* Simon Mann, who is widely believed to have been chief planner of the Equatorial Guinea coup attempt, is to appeal against his seven-year sentence recently imposed on him in Zimbabwe for attempting to buy weapons in the country. Mann was found guilty after an aircraft carrying him and 69 others was stopped at Harare International Airport in March. The Telegraph
