A Pretoria man is facing a murder charge after he shot dead a late-night intruder in his home, but he will not be arrested, police said yesterday.

\'We have opened a case for investigation... It is up to the NPA to decide whether to prosecute,\' said spokesperson Brenda Kgafela. She said it was standard procedure to open a docket and send the results of the detectives\' investigation to the NPA for a decision. She could not say how long this would take. Len Parkin (45) shot dead an intruder in self-defence after he was wounded in an attack at 3am on Sunday. The two intruders, who had held Parkin\'s sons at gunpoint, also fired on Parkin\'s brother, Norman, who is now in hospital in a serious condition. Full report on the IoL site
