A UN humanitarian aid worker, Alister James Shields, has been granted an interdict in the Pretoria High Court barring his former girlfriend from coming near him or his new partner.

Shields said in court papers that he was terrified that Samantha Wilson, the mother of his child, would harm him and his new girlfriend, who is black. He had received racist, abusive and threatening messages from Wilson, says the Pretoria News. Judge Roger Claassen ruled that Wilson must not communicate with Shields and his partner or come within 500m of either of them. This will operate as an interim interdict, pending a response from Wilson on September 30. Full Pretoria News report
