* The Port Elizabeth High Court has convicted Bernard Paddock of murdering gay prison warder Johannes le Grange, who was shot in the back of the head while he was sunbathing at Sandy Bay at Noordhoek, the popular nudist beach and gay pick-up spot, on June 12, 2003.

The motive was not clear, reports The Herald. ‘It was planned and premeditated murder,’ Judge Jos Jones said. Paddock has numerous previous convictions for fraud, theft and assault. Full report in The Herald
