In a legal first, a London court has convicted an asylum seeker of attempted rape even though the victim was never found.

Farhan Osman (27), reports The Scotsman, pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of an ‘unknown person’ after he was caught on closed-circuit television attacking a lone young woman in an underpass in the early hours of the morning in March this year. Security guards spotted Osman, who is from Somalia, on a live link and arrested him shortly afterwards. Full report in The Scotsman
