Malaysian ordered to shut down critical Web site

In the first case of its kind in Malaysia, the Appeals Court has upheld a High Court ruling ordering a man to shut down a personal Web site on which he criticised a car maker.

The Age reports Richard Fong Khee Choong was told he could not chronicle the alleged defects of his Malaysian-made Perodua and his tirade against the car maker on a personal Web site. The Appeals Court judges said they agreed with the High Court that the allegations on Fong\'s Web site ‘attacked the reputation and integrity of the company’. Full report in The Age
