Justice Department preparing way for judicial transformation

Justice Minister Brigitte Mabandla says her department will launch a transformation charter this year to guide the transformation of the judicial system, according to a SABC News report.

It is in the process of formulating a policy document. She revealed this at the launch of the Western Cape leg of the SA Women Lawyers\' Association (Sawla), which aims to build a strong, united and co-ordinated forum for women legal practitioners in order to address gender inequalities in the legal profession. In January, President Thabo Mbeki said the Justice Department needed to hasten women representivity in senior positions in the judiciary. The same call was made during the ANC\'s policy conference which took place in Midrand last week. Full SABC News report
