International Court to hear DRC-Uganda dispute

The International Court of Justice is to hold hearings next April on a 1999 complaint filed by the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Monitor reports the hearings had initially been slated for November 2003, but they were suspended until April 2005 to allow the two countries to enter talks. The impasse has not been broken, however, and an out-of-court settlement seems unlikely. The DR Congo has complained of invasion and military occupation of its territory by Uganda.
