Mozambique appoints new judge counsellor

* Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has appointed Carlos Pedro Mondlane to the post of Judge Counsellor of the Supreme Court. This follows a recommendation by the Superior Council of the Judiciary. The appointment of Mondlane reinforces the Mozambican state's commitment to meritocracy, the strengthening of judicial institutions and the continued promotion of access to justice, the independence of the courts and citizens' trust in the judicial system, according to the statement issued by the Presidency.
