The organiser of an anti-police brutality in Ghana has been charged with failing to obtain a permit and breaking the rules of public gatherings. However, Ernesto Yeboah’s lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu has described the charges as ‘baseless’. More than 60 people attended this weekend’s vigil in Accra, in solidarity with the wave of Black Lives Matter rallies around the world. BBC News reports that Yeboah’s campaign led to Ghana's Parliament dropping plans to build a new ‘wasteful’ chamber last year. Meanwhile, a Ugandan broadcaster has been forced to apologise after its employees wore shirts emblazoned with the slogan ‘All Lives Matter’ on one of its shows. Privately-owned NBS television said it did not intend ‘to rub its viewers the wrong way’ an promised ‘to do better’.
