Ghana's broadcasting watchdog is looking into whether television channels have breached regulations by broadcasting pornography. This after several free-to-air channels were accused of broadcasting adult content during the late-night slots. BBC News reports that two radio personalities have lodged a complaint with the National Media Commission, saying the channels broke broadcasting guidelines. George Sarpong, executive secretary of the regulatory body, said there is ‘no specific law’ banning the broadcasting of pornography, according to the report.
Meanwhile, Kenya's censors have abruptly banned six alleged 'pro-gay' kids cartoons on Nickelodeon (DStv 305) and Cartoon Network (DStv 301) and ordered MultiChoice to immediately stop showing these cartoons on DStv that is 'normalising, glamorising or even glorifying homosexual behaviour'. A Channel24 report notes that Kenya is following Nigeria's censorship move where television-bans on content in that country have seen content removed from MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform for the entire African content.
