The Pretoria Magistrates\' Court has discharged Cornwell Tshavhungwa, the former Deputy Director of the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA), on five of the 12 fraud and corruption counts against him, says an SABC News report.

This comes after the defence brought an application for a discharge on 11 of the counts, saying that the state did not provide sufficient evidence to convict him. The defense however did not ask for a discharge on a count of drunken driving. The case has been postponed to May 3 in order for the accused to decide whether he is going to testify in his own defence on the remaining seven charges against him. Full SABC News report
