* The father of a teenager who fractured a vertebra, leg and ankle after falling 4.5m from a funfair ride is suing the ride operator and the governing body of the Somerset West High School where the fair was held for nearly R500 000. – Cape Argus

* Iraq’s President, Jalal Talabani, says he expects the trial of Saddam Hussein to begin in about two months. Talabani\'s estimate for a trial is much earlier than a date in the first half of next year aired by lawyers and judges connected to the Iraqi Special Tribunal. – The Guardian * The future of the EU Constitution is hanging in the balance after 63% of Netherlands’ electorate rejected the treaty in a vote this week. Three days earlier the French had also voted no. – The Telegraph * A man accused of ‘stalking’ former Miss South Africa, Basetsana Kumalo, has been given until today (Friday) to file an answering affidavit opposing an interim interdict that will bar him from harassing the Top Billing producer. In terms of the order, Joseph Bokara (33) is not allowed to come within 100m of Kumalo. – The Star * A landowner-tenant dispute has been settled out of court and made an order of the Port Elizabeth High Court. Businessman Jacques Bellingham had been seeking to evict Cecilia Hamilton (73) from land he owned and wished to develop. Hamilton had obtained an interdict barring her eviction after Bellingham had bulldozed 100 of her dog kennels as well as a boundary fence. – The Herald
