Crooks hold e-businesses to ransom

Cyber crooks are holding Internet companies to ransom and making online Christmas shopping impossible for many consumers, reports The Metro.

Around 4 million online credit card payment were halted last week as hackers paralysed payment processing Web sites with distributed denial of service attacks. The criminals are aiming to extort money from the online concerns in return for halting the devastating attacks. The latest attack, suffered by Protx, which handles online payments for retailers, was described as crippling.
