The Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court almost released the wrong suspect on bail when the incorrect prisoner was brought up form the holding cells.

The magistrate postponed the case and granted prisoner X bail of R5 000. His error was discovered after the prosecutor called the name of an armed robbery suspect for the next case. Prisoner X, who was on his way out of the courtroom, told the orderly that the name called out was his. The magistrate\'s last word on the error: ‘You must listen carefully for your name in future!’ Full report in The Star
