British law firms are world\'s top earners

Five of the world\'s biggest and top earning law firms are British.

The Observer quotes The Lawyer magazine as saying Clifford Chance, based in Canary Wharf, in London\'s Docklands, came top of the poll, with an estimated total revenue of £950m last year. The firm employs more than 2 500 lawyers worldwide, including 626 partners, who each earned an average of more than £500 000. Skadden Arps, a US firm, comes second, with a turnover of £814m, followed by the City of London firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, on £785m. Linklaters and Allen & Overy, both with about 2 000 lawyers, were respectively the fourth and sixth highest-earning firms. Full report in The Guardian
