Bitter Engelbrecht family struggle is over

The lengthy family saga about the control of assets in the Jannie Engelbrecht Trust has finally been put to rest after an agreement between the parties was reached.

Ellen Engelbrecht and her three children had asked the High Court to deem the former Springbok rugby player and his trustees incompetent to be directors of the Rust-en-Vrede winery and as trustees of the trust. The couple was divorced in August. Engelbrecht was ordered to pay a settlement to his ex-wife of about R2m. News24 reports that Engelbrecht will stay on as chairperson of the trust, but his son will resign as director of all companies and as an employer of Rust-en-Vrede. Full report on News24 site
