Four Australian high school students have been charged with helping to run a global online scam that stole people\'s online banking passwords and siphoned their cash into accounts in Eastern Europe, reports The Australian.

The students were charged after police cracked the scam operating in Sydney and based in Russia. In total 13 Australians had been charged for allegedly robbing 61 people of more than $600 000. Further arrests are expected. The students were lured into the scam with promises of a cut of the profits. They had offered their bank accounts to launder the money, which had been stolen from Internet bank users via a computer virus that secretly recorded the victims\' security passwords.
