The head of the AU Commission has condemned the killing by police of an unarmed black man in the US state of Minnesota which has sparked violent protests across the country. A report on the News24 site notes that Moussa Faki Mahamat ‘strongly condemned’ the murder and extended his condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones. He said he ‘firmly reaffirms and reiterates the AU’s rejection of the continuing discriminatory practices’ against black US citizens. And Kwesi Quartey, deputy chairperson of the AU Commission, said ‘Africa demands a full investigation into this killing’.
