Apple in court over quality of displays

Two Californians have filed a lawsuit against Apple over the quality of the computer maker\'s laptop displays, and they want a judge to rule their claims a class action.

Filed by lawyers for Fred Greaves and Dave Gatley, the lawsuit charges Apple with falsely advertising MacBook and MacBook Pro displays as able to produce \'millions\' of colours. \'The reality is that notwithstanding Apple\'s misrepresentations ... the displays are only capable of displaying the illusion of millions of colours through the use of a software technique referred to as ‘dithering’, the suit claims. According to a ComputerWorld report, Greaves and Gatley tossed in other gripes as well, including claims that Apple\'s notebook screens look \'grainy\' and sometimes \'sparkly,\' show gradient banding and sometimes display distracting lines.
