* George Bizos has won the Sydney and Felicia Kentridge Award, the General Council of the Bar said yesterday. Recently Bizos received an award from the International Bar Association in recognition of his service in the cause of human rights. – Business Day

The worker claimed she was unfairly dismissed because of her HIV status. – Business Day * South Africans declared victims of human rights violations during the apartheid era have been urged to contact the Department of Justice to claim reparations. There are 1 893 victims who have yet to claim their R30 000 each in reparations. – News24 * Taiwan’s High Court will rule tomorrow on an opposition petition to overturn March’s presidential election amid a warning from an academic that the decision may spark a riot. Opposition parties asked the court to void the election, which their candidate, lost to President Chen Shui-bian by 30 000 of 13 million votes cast. – Business Day
