Africa's death toll passes 8 000

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has reached 306 390 in Africa. The number of reported deaths across the continent has reached 8 116 with 146 337 recoveries. A report on the allAfrica site notes that SA has the most reported cases (97 302), with 1 930 deaths. Other heavily affected countries include Egypt (55 233), Nigeria (20 244), Algeria (11 771), and Ghana (14 154). The figures are compiled by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University using statistics from the WHO and other international institutions.
