Mark Scott-Crossley turned his back on a bloodied Nelson Chisale and walked away to indicate to his workers he was not going to get involved in their problems, the Phalaborwa Circuit Court heard yesterday.

‘I got involved in things before and it always led me into trouble,’ Scott-Crossley told the court during his evidence-in-chief in his trial. He is accused along with his former employees, Richard Mathebula (41) and Simon Mathebula (43) for the murder of Chisale, who was thrown to lions in Hoedspruit on January 31 last year. All three have pleaded not guilty. He told the court of the extent of his involvement in the crime, up to the point when Chisale was thrown in the lions’ enclosure. Full report on the IoL site
