1. Junior Lecturer - M000423

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Involve in teaching and learning activities (undergraduate and post-graduate programmes); carry out activities to develop his/her scholarly, research and/or professional expertise which fits into the Faculty's focus area; post-graduate supervision (where applicable); community service and tasks which relates to all above activities.

Minimum Requirements
Junior Lecturer

  • LLB; studying towards a Master degree

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise concerning teaching-learning and research in any of the following subject fields: Private Law. However, candidates with expertise in any other legal field will be considered.

2. Lecturer / Junior Lecturer - M000983

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Involved in teaching and learning (undergraduate and postgraduate programmes) specifically Language Skills in a Legal Context (including developing relevant study material); research which fits into the Faculty’s focus areas; postgraduate supervision (where applicable); community service and tasks which relates to all above activities.

Minimum Requirements
Lecturer

  • LLB, LLM; and studying towards a PhD OR 2 years’ experience as an Attorney or Advocate; and/or
  • Master’s degree in Languages.

Junior Lecturer

  • LLB; studying towards a Master’s degree; and/or
  • Honours degree in Languages and studying towards a Master’s degree.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a Language as well as a Legal qualification

3. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer - P001004

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

A Professor / Associate Professor is expected to exercise a special responsibility in providing leadership and in fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development in the academic discipline within the institution, faculty and the community, both scholarly and general.

A Senior Lecturer is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the faculty or other organizational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.

Minimum Requirements
Professor / Associate Professor:

  • LLB
  • LLD in any field in Law; OR PhD/DPhil in Law
  • 5 – 8 Years’ relevant work experience in academia and subject group.
  • Applicants should show evidence of extensive independence and initiative in research. Be a subject matter expert in their field (8-10 Years’ experience).
  • Publications in accredited journals.
  • Proven record of effective postgraduate supervision.

Senior Lecturer

  • LLB;
  • LLD in any field in Law or a PhD/DPhil in Law; OR
  • LLM plus 5 years’ experience in private practice and admission as Advocate or Attorney.
  • 3 – 5 Years’ relevant work experience in academia and subject group.
  • Applicants should show evidence of independence and initiative in research (3-5 Years’ experience).
  • Publications in accredited journals.
  • Proven record of effective postgraduate supervision.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise concerning teaching-learning and research in any of any of the following subject fields: Commercial Law and Private Law. However, candidates with expertise in any other legal field will be considered.

4. Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer - V000206

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Involved in teaching and learning (undergraduate and postgraduate programmes); research which fits into the Faculty’s focus areas; provide leadership and fosters excellence in research; postgraduate supervision (where applicable); community service and tasks which relates to all above activities. Expected to exercise a responsibility in professional activities in the academic disciples within the Faculty.

Minimum requirements

  • An LLB, LLM and an LLD in any field in Law OR a PhD / DPhil in Law for a position at Associate Professor level.
  • 5 Years’ in experience in academia for an Associate Professor position.
  • An LLB, LLM and an LLD in any field in Law or a PhD / DPhil in Law OR an LLM with 5 years’ experience in private practice and an admitted as an Advocate or Attorney, for a position at Senior Lecturer level.
  • 3 Years’ experience in academia for a Senior Lecturer position.
  • Evidence of extensive independence and initiative in research. Publications in accredited journals.
  • Proven record of effective postgraduate supervision.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise of Teaching and Learning, and Research in the field of Private Law and/or Commercial Law. However, candidates with expertise in any other legal field will be considered.
