Nile dam agreement reached

Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan have reached an initial deal on the filling and operation of what will be Africa's biggest hydro-electric dam. The three nations have agreed that the mega dam on the River Nile will be filled in stages during the rainy season. BBC News reports that Ethiopia, which is building the dam, wants to start generating electricity as soon as possible but Egypt is concerned that its water supplies could be depleted. The preliminary agreement, brokered by the US and World Bank was announced in Washington DC last week.
