Middle East push for endangered cheetahs

A growing demand for exotic pets in Saudi Arabia and the UAE is fuelling the smuggling of cheetahs in Ethiopia, an Ethiopian wildlife official has told the BBC. Daniel Pawlos said at least four cheetahs were smuggled to the Gulf nations every month where they are each sold for more than $10 000. There are only about 7 000 cheetahs left in the wild with about 90% of them located in Africa. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species has listed them as an endangered species
